NightLabs has been developing tailored, state-of-the-art software for SMEs since 1997. The company started in the areas of "distributed client/server systems" and financial software, and in 2000, became a GmbH (company with limited liability), specialising in ERP, Java and open source software.

Whether Haufe-Lexware in Freiburg, Gothaer Systems in Cologne or the prestigious Research Centre for Information Technology (FZI) in Karlsruhe, private and public companies of all sizes make up NightLabs's client base. Two key milestones have played a major part in making NightLabs what it is today:

Multi-server production system: Between 2000 and 2004, NightLabs developed and supervised a cross-national ticketing network comprising several hundred computers. Today, all of NightLabs's clients benefit from the experience gained here with regard to network stability and security.

Java & ERP: NightLabs is a Java pioneer. In 2005, we began developing our flagship ERP platform JFire, which is based on the very latest in Java technologies and is available to companies free of charge as open source software. In 2009, JFire was released in an initial functional version, and it has since been used and supported by a growing community of users.

What characterises NightLabs?

NightLabs's corporate culture is characterised by a flat hierarchy, a strong team spirit and a great deal of respect for clients, employees and business partners alike. We view ourselves as part of the open source movement. Our open source development costs are distributed among a large number of users. Profit is generated from the services we offer, and not from licences.
